Re the 45-years-ago-today Flashback strip: Actually, very few Viet Cong knew the work of Carl Perkins.

I don't believe Roland would ever utter such doubts about the Supreme Leader's plans aloud. This has to be a Fake Comic.

I just read “A Fire Story” in the Daily Briefing. It hit me like a fist to the midsection and took me back to May 2016. That was when a wild fire, dubbed “the Beast” by fire fighters, swept out of the northern bush and reduced Fort McMurry to a smoking ruin. Canadians sat transfixed as residents told their stories of terror and reporters tried to make the scale of the inferno comprehensible to the rest of the country.
Once the flames had passed, one of the weirdest things was the capriciousness of the destruction. TV reports and aerial photos showed streets where all the homes were gone except one that appeared untouched, and small areas where no homes were destroyed, though those around them had been erased. Scientists assure us that blazes like that at Fort Mac (and now Santa Rosa) are part of the new normal in the age of climate change. It makes one wonder what it will take to shake us all out of our stupor and do something. My heart aches for those who have been devastated by this catastrophe.

Happy 47th Anniversary to Garry and all the gang at Doonesbury. Thank you for all the years of bad craziness!

Thank you for today's glorious hurdy-gurdy and theremin video. It made me ask myself who could be our Beowulf to take down this Grendel-in-Chief, but of course I know that it is up to all of us.

Can we please get a link to the original 1973 “Guilty, guilty, guilty!!" strip?

Loved Sunday's strip! That panel of Mark yelling "Guilty!" has been running through my mind since January -- so glad to see it in the flesh again!

The "Guilty, guilty guilty" flashback this morning made me happier than anything has in a while. I came and saw you speak in Kansas City a year or two ago. Started reading Doonesbury when I was about eight years old -- that is my touchstone of American history from the late Sixties on. That strip this morning took me back to all of my old beloved Doonesbury cartoon collections, which sit on my shelf even today. We need your voice now more than we ever have. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Coming next: the "Honk if you think he's guilty" bumper stickers.
HARD TO CHOOSE

I remember vividly the strips during the Nixon years, especially " Guilty, guilty, guilty!" from Mark. Cracked me up then, and it still does. But if we're comparing the less-than-desirable traits of Nixon and Trump -- it's hard to choose the ultimate villain.
WHAT A STIR

I remember what a stir that "Guilty, guilty, guilty!!" caused the first time. I believe it caused Doonesbury to move from the comic section to the editorial page in my local newspaper.

Mark, I remember it well, especially now that Kelly has started to Haldemanize.

Many thanks to the Doonesbury team for today's video remembering Gord Downie of Canada's band, The Tragically Hip. A lovely tribute to one of our national treasures -- a man whose very soul was a poem.

Today's Classic strip: The more things change, the more they stay the same...

I know this one! It's the stateroom scene from A Night at the Opera by the Marx Brothers!

At least Honey's marriage to Duke lasted long enough for them to co-found Honeydukes Chocolates in Hogsmeade Village, Scotl -- no -- wait a minute...

I'm still blown away by Doonesbury. So-very-smart editorial cartooning. Trudeau, Pat Oliphant, and Signe Wilkinson are the best. I wish G.B. would go back to the daily strip...

Thank you so much for today's video introducing me to Michael Cleveland! He's wonderful!

Timing is all. The morning after I watch a TV doco on the pros and cons of legalisng pot here in the UK, Zonker reports in on his latest, presumably already street-legal US crop. Brilliant.
