Jeff is a unique bad guy. Most bad guys are motivated by simple themes such as money, dogma, selfishness or status, and their reactions are predictable. Jeff's bitter view of Zipper, despite just having risked his best friend's life in his own thoroughly incompetently planned escapade, is disgusting in it's callousness. A new type of villian is born.
Come back in about ten years, Samantha. When Prince Harry gets tired of airhead social climbers like Ms. Flaunter, he'll be ready for a good-hearted, grounded, intelligent girl like you.
Coming up tomorrow on the Flashbacks page, the Sunday, April 30th strip from 2006. It's going straight to my therapist. At least it helps to laugh.
The Donald said today, “I’m very proud of myself. . . . I feel I’ve accomplished something really, really important.” How unbelievably in sync with last week's strips!
Re WHAT I HAVE FEARED: hair color aside, Zonker and Zipper can be told apart. They have different eyes! They should look similar; they're related.
Inevitable! But Zonker, veteran of so many flops and disillusionments, is right there with a crumb of redemption.
Love Sam's outfit, especially the hat. Brilliant, as the Brits would say.
Sam turns abruptly, she bumps "smak" into Prince Harry, he smiles -- angels sing. Cue music.
I have a sinking feeling I know what's next for Sam...
To Sam at Westminster Abbey: As gazillions of Doonesbury readers have said to Joanie, Lacey, Honey, Alex, Melissa, and your mother, so now we say to you: "You go, girl!"
Perhaps simply being a "Lord" in England doesn't guarantee you a place at the Royal Wedding. Or maybe Zonk got ripped off when he bought his English title way back when.
The past two strips have confirmed what I have feared. The only way left to tell Zonker and Zipper apart is by hair color.
Re: ISN'T OVER YET. Whilst I agree with the sentiment that Zonker must get in, this poster could not be more wrong about surfing in Britain. Think Cornwall.
This isn't over yet. Zonker must get in! He's too important. The British as yet know nothing of surfing.
I have enjoyed the Doonesbury strips since they were first published. At the end of a full life, the strip is my first read in the morning, followed by the obituary column. In both situations, I feel that I am looking for old friends. They are never read in the reverse order -- I might see my name and miss the cartoon.
Please don't break Sam's heart -- I beg you!
When I was a child the Donald was drawn by an excellent cartoonist, had a funny tuft of hair and spoke like a quack. Some things never change.
Thanks for Sunday's strip highlighting how our government and media are giving the Bahraini government a pass on the horrific human rights abuses they are engaged in -- the worst we have seen so far, apart from Libya. I marvel at how you can do so much in such little space, while making us laugh. May your strip help educate the public and put increased pressure on our government and media to do right by these peaceful people demanding legitimate rights. Thanks!
You make life here a little brighter. Please take it as my utmost compliment that you, Jon Stewart, Stephen Colbert, Hillary and Obama keep me going over here.
